Setting or defining the list of National/Public Holidays is a pretty simple process. Just follow the below instructions:

  • Go to “Setup Company” (under Manage, left navigation bar)
  • Click Holidays (under Leaves section)
  • On this page you need to fill the below fields for each Holiday you would like to define
    • Name: name of the National/Public/Company Holiday that will be visible to all employees
    • Date: date on which it will be, this year
    • Optional: whether this Holiday is mandatory/compulsory/fixed for everyone, or is it optional for employees. Can they decide whether they want to take the Holiday or not?
      • Note: for example: you set 3 optional holidays in total. In the attendance settings, you will then define how many maximum optional holidays can an employee take. If sumHR finds an employee taking more than his assigned limit of optional holidays, it will be counted as an "Absent" mark
    • Location: which of your offices does this Holiday apply to.
      • Note: we have given this option so that the company has the flexibility to define Holidays specific to its different office locations. This is especially useful if your country follows regional Holidays, which are unique to their region's culture/government rules. If you leave this field blank, sumHR will assume it's for ALL offices in your company.
    • [+ add holiday] button-link: you can click this if you'd like to add more holidays in this session. Ideally you should add multiple holidays at once, so that you don't have to Save each Holiday one-by-one.
    • Once done you can click on the Save Holiday List

IMPORTANT NOTE: At times, there might be Festival/Culture Holidays added in this list which are not followed on 'fixed dates' like Eid or Diwali day (both fall on different dates every year). In such cases, you must remember to review and modify the dates of those Holidays every year. Preferably you should do it just before the end of the year, so that the employees see an accurate list in the new year.
